JC Polyoma Virus DNA, Qualitative Real-Time PCR print

JC Virus is the cause of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a severe demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. PML is a particular concern for individuals infected with the human immunodeficiency virus. The detection of JC virus DNA is based upon the real-time PCR amplification and detection of specific JC virus genomic sequences from total DNA extracted from the specimen.

This test is not approved for New York patient testing.

Real-Time PCR
Not detected
0.7 mL CSF, urine, serum or plasma (EDTA, ACD)

JC Polyoma Virus DNA, Quantitative Real-Time PCR print

JC Virus is the cause of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a severe demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. PML is a particular concern for individuals infected with the human immunodeficiency virus. Quantification of JC virus DNA is based upon the real-time PCR amplification and detection of JCV genomic DNA. The quantitative range of this assay is 500 - 35,000,000 JCV DNA copies/mL.

This test is not approved for New York patient testing.

Real-Time PCR
< 500 copies/mL

JC Virus DNA Qualitative Reflex to JC Virus DNA Quantitative print

If JC Virus DNA is detected in the qualitative assay, the specimen will reflex to JC Virus Quantitative PCR (Focus Unit Code 41446) for an additional charge. The quantitative range of this assay is 500 - 35,000,000 JCV DNA copies/mL.

This test is not approved for New York patient testing.
